Etihad Airways launched direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, operating four times weekly with Airbus A321LR aircraft. According to the airline, it is the first Middle Eastern carrier to serve Luxembourg.
Luxembourg Airport welcomed inaugural flight EY51 from Abu Dhabi with a water-cannon salute, marking the start of the new link between the UAE capital and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, according to an announcement on Etihad’s website.
The airline said the route was the only nonstop service between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg and had attracted strong bookings since sales opened in January 2026.
Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves said Luxembourg’s addition formed part of the airline’s network expansion in 2026, allowing travellers from Luxembourg and neighbouring areas to fly directly to Abu Dhabi and connect to onward destinations.
160 seats on the Airbus A321LR
The aircraft offers 160 seats across three cabins: two First suites, 14 Business seats and 144 Economy seats.
First suites and Business seats convert into fully flat beds and offer direct aisle access. Economy features 4K touchscreens, while high-speed Wi-Fi is available across all cabins.
Connections across Etihad’s global network
The flights allow passengers from Luxembourg and neighbouring areas of Belgium, France and Germany to fly directly to Abu Dhabi and connect through Zayed International Airport to Asia, Australia and the Indian subcontinent.
Onward destinations include Phuket, Bangkok, Hanoi, Seoul, Tokyo, Sydney and Colombo.
Eligible travellers can also use the Abu Dhabi Stopover programme, which provides up to two complimentary hotel nights, subject to its terms.
A new destination for UAE visitors
Travellers from Abu Dhabi can now reach Luxembourg directly to explore historical and cultural attractions, including its UNESCO-listed old quarters and fortifications.
Highlights include the historic Bock Casemates, the Grund district overlooking the Alzette River, and the Kirchberg plateau, home to European institutions and the Philharmonie concert hall.
Visitors can also explore the Moselle wine region and Mullerthal’s nature trails, both less than an hour from the capital.
Lux-Airport CEO Alexander Flassak said Etihad’s service offered a direct Abu Dhabi option for travellers from Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Germany, with onward access to Asian and other destinations through Etihad’s network.
Luxembourg forms part of Etihad’s 2026 expansion, including new routes in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America.
According to the airline, its network includes more than 110 destinations and its operating fleet comprises 130 aircraft. Abu Dhabi–Luxembourg tickets are available at www.etihad.com.
