Eng. Ahmed Youssef, head of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, held a meeting with Michał Łabenda, the Polish Ambassador in Cairo, to discuss joint cooperation to boost tourist traffic to Egypt from the Polish market.

For his part, the Polish ambassador expressed optimism about an increase in arrivals in the coming period, stressing the need for joint work to restore tourist traffic from Poland to Egypt to its former levels. He revealed that LOT Polish Airlines is scheduled to operate direct flights from the capital, Warsaw, to Cairo by winter 2020, reaching 4 to 5 flights a week, noting that there are already charter flights from various Polish cities to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada.

In a related context, the head of the Tourism Promotion Authority pointed to the importance of the Polish market for Egyptian tourism, as Poland was one of the most important source countries for tourism until 2010, expressing hope that the number of Polish tourists arriving in Egypt will increase in the coming period.

He stressed the importance of diversifying the source markets for tourism to Egypt and using modern promotional tools to raise tourist traffic from the Polish market, as well as introducing Polish tourists to Egypt's distinctive tourist destinations, especially given Egypt's tourism potential, which places it in a competitive position among tourist destinations.

According to tourism statistics, Polish tourist arrivals in Egypt reached 304,000 in 2018, up 71% from 2017, which recorded 177,000 Polish tourists.
