Civil Aviation Authority Bars Boeing B737 MAX Aircraft From Entering Egyptian Airspace

The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority has taken a precautionary decision in the interest of passenger and aviation safety, banning Boeing B737 MAX aircraft from overflying, landing at and taking off from Egyptian airspace and airports. A safety notice was issued to all countries of the world, following the unfortunate accident involving an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft of the same model on March 10, the cause of which remains unclear.

The authority said in its statement today that an assessment of the operational safety of this model is under way with international civil aviation authorities, the aircraft manufacturer and the relevant safety agencies.

It is worth noting that EgyptAir does not own this Boeing B737 MAX model, nor is it part of its future plans to develop its fleet. Moreover, no aircraft of this model is registered in the Egyptian aircraft register with any Egyptian company.
