EgyptAir to Launch New Madrid–Luxor Flight in December to Boost Tourism

By Akram Medhat

EgyptAir has announced a weekly flight between the Spanish capital, Madrid, and Luxor via Cairo International Airport during the current winter season, operated as flight MS754 from Madrid. The move aims to revive inbound tourism to Egypt and attract more visitors to Luxor, which was named "World Tourism Capital 2016," according to the World Tourism Organization.

Safwat Moslem, chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, said the first Madrid–Luxor flight is scheduled for Monday, 5 December, on a Boeing 737-800 with 144 seats: 120 in economy and 24 in business class. The first flight departs at 14:50 and lands at Luxor Airport at 20:55. The period coincides with the mid-year holidays, New Year and Christmas.

Moslem added that the company is restoring its network to full capacity to support tourism in line with supply and demand, which is why flights between Luxor and London were resumed at the beginning of last October.
