Health Insights, a company specializing in medical industry technology, unveiled its latest inventions for monitoring passengers' medical emergencies on planes during its participation in the 44th edition of the Arab Health international exhibition, the largest in the Middle East and North Africa.
Eng. Nasser Shehata, Chief Executive Officer of Health Insights, said the company's products have been developed to enhance remote patient monitoring and measurement using ACG, covering heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, the heart's electrical activity with high diagnostic accuracy and skin temperature, as well as deriving blood pressure using artificial intelligence equations.
He explained that Health Insights systems can be used on board aircraft if a passenger has a heart problem, by viewing the patient's activity and identifying the health problem. As most modern airlines have internet connectivity, there is no need to land in emergencies before a specialist reviews the monitoring device and the ACG tracking the patient and decides whether an emergency landing is required, so that the airline does not incur heavy costs from a landing decision.
He stressed that the connectivity services the company provides through its advanced technical solutions are not limited to hospitals, radiology centers and laboratories, but also include linking with ambulance fleets to save time and provide quick medical guidance in emergencies. When a patient is in an ambulance, the hospital can review the patient's condition with the accompanying ambulance team and redirect the patient to another center that has the service the patient needs.
Health Insights also unveiled a medical smartwatch that monitors the heart's electrical activity, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure and skin temperature, and sends patient reports directly to the doctor when a crisis occurs, to alert them and deal with the case. The doctor can choose the devices to be fitted to the patient according to the case and link them to the smartwatch, as most of them are small and easy to carry.
The company intends to have all the smartwatch accessories manufactured in Egypt, to transfer its expertise to the Egyptian market, where the company has worked for 18 years. The smartwatch system and all its accessories obtained an Egyptian patent from the Academy of Scientific Research, in addition to the European CE quality mark, and the company's factory holds ISO 13485 for manufacturing medical devices.
It is worth noting that the company has contracted and implemented the program in a number of international medical institutions recognized for their efficiency and good reputation in the medical field in the United Arab Emirates, and in about 26 hospitals in Saudi Arabia, where it has been applied since 2008 and proved successful in facilitating care and health booking services, which encouraged the company to expand to Malaysia, Ireland and soon Germany.
