This April: Electronic Security Notifications to Be Activated at Cairo Hotels, With Training for Tourism Companies

By Akram Medhat

Nasser Turky, board member of the Egyptian Tourism Federation and head of its Government Relations and Media Committee, said that this April will see the activation of the electronic notification system between Cairo's major hotels and the Tourism and Antiquities Police, in coordination with the Chamber of Hotel Establishments, as part of the plan to link the tourism sector electronically with the security agencies. The training of those in charge of the new system is under way through a contract with a sovereign company, so that manual, paper-based and traditional transactions will disappear.

Turky told Travel Yalla News that it is planned for all employees of tourism companies and hotels to have cards serving as automated identification cards containing each individual's data, including security clearance and inquiries into his movements in the field of work.

He pointed out that the electronic notification system is scheduled to be applied gradually in the remaining governorates as soon as the training of workers on the system is completed, noting that the federation and the Chamber of Hotels are working at a fast pace to complete the activation of the system, which will save time and effort.

In a related context, the board member of the Egyptian Tourism Federation said the Chamber of Tourism Companies will begin training workers on the electronic system during the current month, with priority given to inbound tourism companies, so that notification of any tour program is converted to the electronic system with the Tourism Police.

Turky pointed out that the remaining chambers, namely Tourist Establishments, Tourist Goods and Antiques, and Diving and Water Sports, will join the system, so that paper-based or face-to-face dealings between the tourism sector and government bodies will disappear. The data of all workers in these activities is currently being registered and linked with the security agencies.
