The Egyptian Tourism Authority helped host and sponsor the annual international Starway awards event, organized in Hurghada by Coral Travel, one of Eastern Europe’s largest tour operators, particularly in the Czech market. The event honoured the operator’s Czech travel agents who achieved the highest sales during the year.
Egypt’s selection as host reflects its standing among Czech tourists as their leading holiday destination, as well as the market’s growing confidence and demand. Arrivals from the Czech Republic increased this year compared with the previous year, alongside rising tourism demand and an increase in charter flights from the Czech market.
The programme included an extensive workshop bringing together representatives of Egyptian hotels and travel agents to promote Egypt and showcase the diversity of its tourism products and experiences. An awards ceremony also recognized top-performing agents across several categories based on their annual sales results.
During the workshop and awards ceremony, Dr. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, presented Egypt’s main attractions, destinations and tourism products, particularly its new offerings. He highlighted their diverse and distinctive experiences, which cater to different visitor interests and help broaden the travel programmes available in international markets.
Youssef also outlined Egypt’s efforts to develop and improve tourism infrastructure. These include upgrading road networks and transport to make travel between cities and destinations easier; developing and maintaining archaeological sites and museums; expanding airports and improving ports; advancing digital transformation; facilitating tourist visa-on-arrival procedures; and implementing flight incentive programmes. These and other measures aim to enhance the visitor experience and increase inbound tourism to Egypt.
Coral Travel officials said the company launched an early-booking campaign for 2026 in August. The campaign covered major sales outlets across several European markets, including Poland, Germany, Romania, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Austria, Lithuania and Latvia, among others.
