The first of the training courses organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Chamber of Tourist Establishments and Diversey, under the title "Food Health and Safety", started today to raise the level of the sector's human resources and qualify them to keep pace with developments in the tourism industry, especially in tourist restaurants.

The training course, held at the chamber's headquarters, was opened by Dr. Soha Bahgat, training advisor to the Minister of Tourism, and Adel El-Masry, head of the Chamber of Tourist Establishments. About 50 participants, managers and food and beverage quality officials at restaurants, are taking part, and the course continues until March 7.

For her part, the Minister of Tourism's training advisor said the course is being held as part of the ministry's plan to raise the efficiency of human resources in all tourism sectors, noting that the Minister of Tourism places the training and human development system for workers among her top priorities, in cooperation with the Egyptian Tourism Federation and its five affiliated chambers, to develop the quality of services offered to tourists and ensure they return to the Egyptian destination.

She added that the start will be with preparing the establishments' leaders (managers), with the following training phases to be completed for the subordinate management levels. The aim is to qualify managers to become trainers for the workers at their establishments and to create a generation capable of leadership, supplying it with all the information and programs that drive it to advance the tourism industry.

She explained that 500 tourist restaurant managers in Egypt are scheduled to be trained. Training will start in Cairo Governorate in groups of 50 managers each, then continue in the other tourist cities: Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada and South Sinai.

She pointed out that the plan to train tourist establishment managers in proper food health and safety preparation is being carried out through Diversey, an international company specialized in these fields.

She stressed that early training and education will have a strong impact on the Egyptian tourism industry, helping it keep pace with global developments and return to its former prosperity, and asked attendees to put forward the programs they would like so they can be prepared and organized in cooperation with the Chamber of Tourist Establishments.

In a related context, Adel El-Masry, head of the Chamber of Tourist Establishments, stressed the provision of all means of support to its member tourist establishments and their workers, upgrading and qualifying them in the latest modern scientific methods in restaurants and in safe, healthy food production, praising the response of establishment owners and managers in participating in this training course.

He stated that the chamber has prepared a training program on food health and safety covering all establishments nationwide through its five branches in the governorates, namely South Sinai, Luxor and South Upper Egypt, the Red Sea, Alexandria, and Central Delta and Canal, starting from the beginning of next April, and aiming to train about 500 tourist establishment managers in the coming period.

It is worth noting that the training course was attended by Hesham Wahba, board member of the Chamber of Tourist Establishments and head of the Public and Government Relations and Investor Problem-Solving Committee, and Ahmed El-Nazer, the chamber's secretary general.

Notably, Diversey is a company specialized in providing sustainable solutions for occupational health and food safety through the introduction of modern technology methods.
