Minister of Tourism: The coming period will see the completion of the legislative reform steps for the sector, whose laws date back 50 years

The tourism sector awaits the announcement of the full formation of the Egyptian Tourism Federation's board within the next two weeks, after the federation's election results were announced yesterday evening, with 6 elected members winning board seats for 4 years: Nasser Turky, Ahmed El-Wassif, Mohamed El-Kattan, Mohamed Abdullah, Waheed Assem and Heba Bakry.
The federation's board consists of 16 members: the 6 members elected yesterday, the 5 elected heads of the tourism chambers, and 5 members appointed by decision of the Minister of Tourism, including a representative of the ministry, within 15 days of the results being announced. Board membership lasts 4 years from the date the formation decision is issued, and the caretaker committee's mission ends once the formation decision is issued.
In this context, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat praised the performance of the caretaker committees of the federation and the chambers over the past period, noting that the private tourism sector is now fully represented. She stressed the importance of cooperation in the coming period to implement the pillars of the structural reform program to develop the tourism sector, especially the legislative reform of the laws and regulations governing the sector, which were issued about 50 years ago, in addition to submitting a number of tourism-related draft laws, most notably the unified tourism law.
It is worth noting that for the past 3 years there were no elected boards for the federation and its five tourism chambers. The chambers took this important step on October 31, and the system completed its formation with yesterday's federation elections.
