Minister of Tourism Dr. Rania Al-Mashat confirmed that Egypt will participate in the COTTM tourism exhibition, to be held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, for the 15th year, from April 15 to 17, and denied reports circulating that Egypt would not take part in this important exhibition.

Al-Mashat said, during her meeting with tourism correspondents, that the Chinese market is one of the important markets that will see significant growth in the coming period, pointing out that ways to increase tourist traffic from China were discussed with foreign tour operators TUI and Thomas Cook, together with their partners in this market, during Egypt's participation in ITB Berlin in Germany from March 6 to 10.

Notably, Chinese tourism to Egypt recorded 235,000 arrivals in 2018, spending 1.9 million tourist nights. Despite leading the Asian source markets for tourism to Egypt, it saw an 18% decline compared with 2017, after it had been achieving significant growth rates. It is worth noting that the Chinese tourism market sends about 120 million tourists around the world every year.
