Tourism Ministry: Files of 305,000 Egyptian Umrah Pilgrims Reviewed by End of Last March

By Akram Medhat

A responsible source at the Ministry of Tourism revealed that the number of Egyptian Umrah pilgrims whose files were reviewed at the ministry reached 305,000 by the end of last March, since the start of the 1440 AH/2019 AD Umrah season in mid-November.

The source explained that the pilgrims whose files were reviewed depart on their trips within 5 to 15 days, but the actual number who obtained visas and made their trips is lower than that, though it is increasing daily as trips to the holy lands continue to operate.

It is worth noting that the Umrah season regulations announced by the Higher Committee for Hajj require adherence to the maximum total number of visas targeted per season, which is 500,000 visas, with 80% of them, or 400,000 visas, to be processed before the month of Ramadan, and 20%, or 100,000 visas, during Ramadan.
