Chamber of Tourism Companies: 1,250 Tourist Vehicle Drivers Trained in Two Months

By Akram Medhat

The Egyptian Chamber of Tourism Companies announced that 1,250 tourist vehicle drivers have been trained over the past two months, as part of the training plan set by the chamber to raise the efficiency of human resources in support of the tourist transport sector in Egypt, giving top priority to holding intensive (theoretical and practical) training courses in Greater Cairo and the tourist governorates where tourist transport capacity is concentrated, in order to raise the efficiency and hone the skills of tourist vehicle drivers, as well as to develop the behavioral and professional standards of trainees and reach the technical tourism quality required of a vehicle driver.

This number of trainees is a major achievement resulting from strenuous efforts by the chamber's board of directors and administrative staff to train as many tourist vehicle drivers as possible, in preparation for launching the electronic link system between tourism companies and the Ministry of Interior, which will save tourism companies time and effort and ensure that state agencies can monitor tourist vehicles in real time.

In a related context, two training courses were held today for 550 tourist vehicle drivers in the Red Sea governorate, in the presence of Maj. Gen. Ahmed Abdullah, Governor of the Red Sea, Hossam El-Shaer, chairman of the chamber's board of directors, members of the chamber's board, and Abdel Hamid Abdel Halim, head of the Central Administration for Tourist Transport and Tour Guides at the Ministry of Tourism.

This step comes as part of a package of measures to raise the level of service provided to tourists, with the aim of increasing tourist flows to Egypt so that it regains its customary leading position worldwide.
