Hesham El-Shaer, a board member of the Chamber of Hotels and head of its Government Communication Committee, stated that an agreement was reached with the River Transport Authority to extend the validity of operating licenses for floating hotels on Lake Nasser behind the High Dam until next April 30, instead of renewing them every 10 days.
El-Shaer told Travel Yalla News that this decision came after a joint meeting held today between the Chamber of Hotel Establishments and the River Transport Authority, attended by Maj. Gen. Abdel Rahim Hassan, Advisor to the Egyptian Tourism Federation. He noted that renewing the license every 10 days hindered the smooth operation of floating hotels and wasted time, especially at the peak of the winter tourist season, while extending their validity until the end of April allows flexibility in operating cruises.
El-Shaer explained that there will be other mechanisms for licensing and operating floating hotels after next April 30, as part of the chamber's efforts to solve the crises facing floating hotels, especially with the concerned government bodies.
It is worth noting that the number of floating hotels operating on the High Dam Lake stands at 5, of which 4 are actually operating and one boat is out of service.
