Hurghada International Airport recorded its highest-ever daily operating level on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with 389 take-offs and landings. This surpassed its previous record of 358 movements, set on November 1, 2025, by 31 movements, an increase of 8.7%.
Approximately 67,000 passengers travelled through the airport during the day, compared with 56,641 on the previous record day, an increase of 10,359, or 18.3%. Passenger growth was therefore more than double the rate of growth in aircraft movements.
Arriving passengers reached around 33,500, up 24.1%, while departing passengers also totalled approximately 33,500, up 13% against the same reference day.
Minister of Civil Aviation Dr Sameh El-Hefny said the record figures reflect growing demand for Egypt and increasing international interest in its tourism cities, especially at the start of the winter season. He said they underline civil aviation’s vital role in supporting inbound tourism and Egyptian airports’ capacity to accommodate increased international traffic.
El-Hefny said developing airport infrastructure, expanding capacity and improving operational efficiency are strategic priorities, enabling airports to keep pace with growing air transport demand and provide efficient, high-quality services while meeting the highest safety and security standards. This strengthens Egyptian airports’ competitiveness and Egypt’s position as a regional and international aviation and tourism hub.
Captain Wael El-Nashar, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company, said the record reflects Hurghada Airport’s efficient operations and the readiness of its different departments to handle high traffic volumes. Continuous coordination among airport entities and well-prepared teams support punctual services and faster departure and arrival procedures while maintaining safety, security and service quality.
He added that the company monitors performance and operations across its airports and strengthens technical and staffing preparations, particularly at tourism airports, to handle expected increases in flights and passengers efficiently.
The record comes as the winter tourism season begins, bringing more international flights to Egyptian destinations, particularly Red Sea cities. This reinforces Hurghada Airport’s role in accommodating expected tourism growth and supports national efforts to develop the sector.
