The Chamber of Tourism Companies confirmed that registration of the names of citizens applying for the tourist Hajj lottery for the 1440 AH/2019 season will close on March 17, with the electronic lottery to select about 36,000 citizens from among the applicants to be held on March 27. The chamber urged citizens to apply quickly to tourism companies before registration closes.
In this context, Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the chamber's Religious Tourism Committee, said that more than 1,200 tourism companies have begun registering their pilgrims on the Hajj website in preparation for the lottery. The head of the Religious Tourism Committee expected the turnout and registration of pilgrims to increase in the coming days, and stressed that any citizen who has applied for the Interior Ministry or Social Solidarity Ministry Hajj is allowed to register, in implementation of the instructions of the Higher Committee for Hajj headed by the Prime Minister.
He pointed out that most applicants chose the economy programs, "overland and economy by air", due to the reasonable prices and distinguished services that companies compete to offer within these programs.
He noted that registration remains open for tourism companies to register applicants' names on the Egypt Hajj portal, provided that the Hajj applicant pays the booking commitment fee, which is EGP 10,000 for the economy level, EGP 15,000 for the 4-star level and EGP 20,000 for the 5-star level.
