Tourism Companies Chamber Launches Awareness Campaign on Tourist Hajj and Warns Against Brokers

The Chamber of Tourism Companies launched, starting today, a broad campaign to raise awareness among Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and introduce tourist Hajj and how to apply to companies. The campaign targets all segments of Egyptian society and includes film, press and radio materials.

The campaign seeks to achieve several goals, namely making citizens traveling to perform Umrah aware of the need to abide by the instructions and programs set by tourism companies and not to overstay beyond the scheduled return dates, to avoid the penalties set for that.

The campaign explains to citizens the many advantages of tourist Hajj and the distinguished services it offers at all its levels (5 stars, 4 stars, economy and overland), and how to apply to tourism companies to book a Hajj place.

On another note, the campaign warns citizens against dealing with brokers and intermediaries and urges them to apply directly to tourism companies and their branches spread across the various governorates and cities of the country. It shows the downsides of dealing with brokers, including the possibility of defrauding citizens and charging amounts higher than the value of the programs, or giving wrong information that harms citizens and loses them their rights.

The campaign also presents all the information citizens need about tourist Hajj and about preserving their rights by signing a unified contract between the company and the pilgrim that includes the trip details.

As the Hajj season approaches, the campaign will focus on religious awareness for all Egyptian citizens traveling to perform Hajj in the proper way and on avoiding negative practices that may harm pilgrims.

The chamber's board, headed by Hossam El-Shaer, approved the campaign, which was supervised by a committee from the Chamber of Tourism Companies comprising Basel El-Sisi, the chamber's Vice Chairman; Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the Religious Tourism Committee; and board members Alaa El-Ghamry, Yousry El-Saoudi and Ali El-Manasterly, and carried out by a team from the chamber headed by Secretary General Osama Emara.
