Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the Religious Tourism Committee at the Chamber of Tourism Companies and a member of the Higher Committee for Hajj and Umrah, stated that the number of Egyptian pilgrims who have actually traveled to perform Umrah for the 1440 AH season has reached 75,000 since the Umrah season began last November 15, noting that the number registered on the Ministry of Tourism's system so far has reached 95,000 pilgrims.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Tourism set 500,000 visas as a cap on the number of Egyptian Umrah pilgrims during the 1440 AH Umrah season, with 400,000 visas allocated to the quota for the period before the month of Ramadan since the season began last November.
On another note, the head of the Religious Tourism Committee at the Chamber of Tourism Companies confirmed that the crisis of registering pilgrims on the Ministry of Tourism's Hajj and Umrah system has been resolved, explaining that tourism companies suffered no losses.
He said in press statements today that an agreement was reached with Orange for a 16 Mbps internet data line, so that system outages do not recur, which will also help speed up procedures.
