An official source at the Consular Affairs Department of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that, following Qatar’s admission to the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP), Qatari passport holders will soon be able to apply for authorisation to travel to the United States for tourism for stays of up to 90 days, which cannot be extended.
The source said the authorisation is valid for two years and can be obtained through esta.cbp.dhs.gov or the ESTA Mobile application from the iOS App Store or Google Play, according to Qatar News Agency.
The source confirmed that travel authorisation becomes invalid when the passport expires, adding that the programme’s implementation date and requirements will be announced in due course.
Qatar joined the US Visa Waiver Program as the first country in the region to do so, reflecting the continuing development of the strategic partnership between Qatar and the United States.
